The Embassy of the State of Qatar is excited to announce the inaugural Autism Awareness Fundraising Gala in partnership with Autism Speaks. This year’s gala theme is “Together for Autism: Ensuring Acceptance and Accessibility.”
The event is hosted by Emmy Award winning news Anchor Autria Godfrey, and will feature performances by Ethan Walmark and Rachel Platten. A keynote address will be given by His Excellency Meshal bin Hamad Al-Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the United States.
Qatar has a long and committed role in autism research and awareness campaigns, from Qatar’s Mission to the United Nations sponsorship of the UN resolution to dedicate a World Autism Awareness Day, to the establishment of the Shafallah Center for Children with Special Needs.
“Together for Autism: Ensuring Acceptance and Accessibility” will highlight Qatar’s partnership with Autism Speaks. Founded in 2005, Autism Speaks is a nonprofit organization that has worked diligently to support groundbreaking science and research, effective advocacy, and extensive family services in the U.S. and around the world. Autism Speaks remains dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, to increase understanding and acceptance of autism.
All proceeds of the gala will go to Autism Speaks to support their advocacy campaigns and research into autism and related conditions.
This fundraising event is not sponsored by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts nor will any of the proceeds benefit the Kennedy Center or its subsidiaries.
